Polyacrylamide / PRAESTOL 2515 DK can be replaced byChinafloc A1217
PRAESTOL 2515 DK is a high-molecular-weight anionic polyacrylamide (A-PAM) used primarily as a flocculant for solid–liquid separation in industrial, municipal, and mining applications. As part of the PRAESTOL DK series, it is engineered with a specific anionic charge density and molecular chain length that enable it to create strong particle bridges, form large and stable flocs, and accelerate settling or dewatering processes. Because of its efficiency, reliability, and adaptability to a wide range of water qualities, PRAESTOL 2515 DK is widely applied in industries where high turbidity or fine suspended solids present operational challenges.
One of the primary applications of PRAESTOL 2515 DK is municipal wastewater treatment, where the polymer is used both for clarification and sludge dewatering. Municipal wastewater often contains fine organic particles, biological flocs, and colloidal materials that do not settle easily. When PRAESTOL 2515 DK is introduced into primary or secondary clarifiers, it rapidly agglomerates these fine solids into dense flocs that settle faster, thus improving effluent quality and reducing the load on downstream filtration units. In sludge treatment, the polymer is used to condition activated sludge, digested sludge, or mixed sludge before mechanical dewatering. It enhances cake formation and increases dryness levels in belt filter presses, screw presses, centrifuges, and filter presses. Better dewatering reduces sludge volume, transportation cost, and disposal expenses—key concerns for municipal wastewater facilities.
In industrial wastewater treatment, PRAESTOL 2515 DK plays an essential role across multiple industries, including petrochemical, food processing, steel manufacturing, textile dyeing, pharmaceutical production, coal washing, and chemical processing. Industrial effluents often contain mineral fines, emulsified oils, dyes, metallic hydroxides, and organic contaminants. The anionic polyacrylamide binds these particles into stable flocs that can be removed via sedimentation, dissolved-air flotation (DAF), or filtration. The polymer’s strong bridging capability helps remove materials that would otherwise remain in suspension. When used along with coagulants such as alum, ferric chloride, PAC, or lime, PRAESTOL 2515 DK greatly improves treatment performance, reduces turbidity, and supports compliance with strict discharge regulations.
Another important area where PRAESTOL 2515 DK is widely used is mining and mineral processing. Mining operations produce enormous volumes of slurry loaded with ultra-fine particles—clays, silica, metal hydroxides, tailings fines, and processing residues—that settle extremely slowly without chemical aid. PRAESTOL 2515 DK is used in thickeners to increase the settling rate of these solids, resulting in clearer overflow water and denser underflow slurry. This contributes directly to water conservation, efficient circulation of process water, and stable tailings management. Whether processing copper, gold, iron ore, bauxite, phosphate, or coal, mining plants rely on PRAESTOL 2515 DK to maintain operational throughput. In filtration applications, the polymer improves cake permeability and reduces cycle time, thereby supporting higher production output.
The polymer is also applied in raw water treatment and drinking water pretreatment, especially in surface water systems where turbidity fluctuates depending on rainfall, seasonal algae blooms, and runoff. PRAESTOL 2515 DK enhances coagulation–flocculation processes in settling basins and clarifiers by forming large, heavy flocs that settle quickly. This ensures more stable filtration efficiency downstream, reduces backwash frequency, and protects membrane systems. The polymer’s effectiveness across different pH levels makes it useful for rivers, lakes, and reservoirs with varying water chemistry.
In oil and gas operations, PRAESTOL 2515 DK is used for produced-water clarification, drilling mud treatment, and solids removal from fracking flowback fluids. Produced water typically contains high levels of suspended solids and fine mineral particles. The polymer promotes rapid flocculation, enabling faster separation of solids and improving water recovery for reuse or reinjection. In drilling mud treatment, it helps remove drill cuttings and ultrafine solids to maintain mud quality and reduce waste volume.
Additionally, PRAESTOL 2515 DK is used in paper and pulp mills. During papermaking, white water contains short fibers, fillers, and other suspended solids that must be removed for water recycling. The polymer improves fiber recovery, enhances clarity in save-all systems, and supports efficient wastewater treatment for mill effluents. This reduces operating costs and improves both product quality and environmental performance.
In construction, tunneling, and civil engineering, PRAESTOL 2515 DK assists in sedimentation and water clarification. Excavation and tunneling operations generate slurry and sediment-laden water. By applying the polymer, suspended solids in the muddy water are rapidly flocculated, allowing clean water to be discharged or reused while solids settle and can be removed easily. This is essential for compliance with environmental regulations governing construction runoff.
In some agricultural and environmental uses, PRAESTOL 2515 DK helps clarify irrigation return water, settle sediments in reservoirs, and control soil erosion by flocculating suspended silt and clay particles.
Across all these sectors, PRAESTOL 2515 DK is chosen for its high molecular weight, excellent bridging ability, rapid settling performance, low required dosage, and stability under varying process conditions. It provides consistent, dependable results in operations ranging from simple clarification to high-solids dewatering.
