FLOPAM AN945 is a high–molecular-weight anionic polyacrylamide (A-PAM) designed for demanding solid–liquid separation processes across mining, mineral beneficiation, water treatment, oil sands operations, and various industrial wastewater applications. As a powder-grade flocculant with medium–high anionic charge and very long polymer chains, FLOPAM AN945 provides powerful flocculation, excellent settling performance, strong sludge dewatering capability, and reliable process stability even in complex suspensions containing fine particles and diverse ionic species. The most important application of FLOPAM AN945 is mining and mineral processing, where it is frequently used as a settling and clarification flocculant. Many mineral processing slurries—such as tailings from gold ore, copper ore, bauxite residue, phosphate, iron ore, coal washings, and rare-earth ore—contain ultra-fine particles that settle poorly without chemical assistance. FLOPAM AN945 bridges these particles into large, dense flocs, resulting in fast settling, excellent overflow clarity, and improved underflow compaction. In thickener systems, AN945 reduces the residence time needed to achieve a clean interface, increases the throughput capacity of existing equipment, and improves the long-term stability of tailings deposits by producing more compact and uniform solids.
In bauxite and alumina refining, FLOPAM AN945 is often used in specific circuits dealing with red mud or fine bauxite residue. Its long chain structure is effective under alkaline conditions, allowing it to accelerate mud settling, improve washer performance, and reduce soda losses. With enhanced floc formation, the process benefits from clearer pregnant liquor, more efficient counter-current washing (CCD), and lower solids carry-over, which also supports downstream precipitation quality. These advantages reduce overall energy usage and contribute to safer and more manageable residue disposal areas.
Another major application of FLOPAM AN945 is in industrial and municipal wastewater treatment. As a general-purpose anionic polymer, AN945 assists in flocculating negatively charged colloids, soil particles, pigments, organic suspended solids, and residual metal hydroxide precipitates. When used after primary coagulation, the polymer transforms dispersed solids into fast-settling flocs, reducing turbidity and facilitating efficient sedimentation or flotation. In sludge treatment, FLOPAM AN945 improves sludge dewatering on belt presses, screw presses, filter presses, and centrifuges by forming stronger floc structures with higher mechanical durability. The result is lower sludge moisture, reduced disposal cost, and improved performance of dewatering equipment.
In oil and gas field applications, particularly in produced-water treatment, drilling mud separation, and oil sands tailings, FLOPAM AN945 serves as a flocculant to clarify water and improve the separation of suspended solids. Oil sands and bitumen extraction processes generate tailings with extremely fine clays, which require high-molecular-weight anionic polyacrylamides for effective settling. AN945 helps accelerate consolidation, improve water release, and reduce the volume of tailings ponds. In drilling and completion fluids, the polymer can also assist in mud recycling and solids removal systems.
FLOPAM AN945 is also widely applied in aggregate washing, sand washing, tunneling slurry treatment, and construction-related slurry management. Construction slurries often contain cement fines, clays, limestone particles, and silica fines—all of which are difficult to settle without chemical conditioning. AN945 helps create robust flocs that separate rapidly under gravity, enabling compliance with discharge limits and allowing recycled water reuse for ongoing construction activities. This reduces water consumption, environmental impact, and operating cost.
In paper and pulp industry wastewater, FLOPAM AN945 is effective in clarifying white water, removing suspended cellulose fibers, and improving sludge dewatering in fiber recovery systems. As a water-soluble polymer, it interacts favorably with organic-rich suspensions and reduces the load on downstream treatment units.
Another important application is in chemical and petrochemical wastewater, where the polymer helps remove emulsified oils, pigments, fillers, and inorganic fines. When combined with coagulants such as PAC, alum, ferric sulfate, polyamine, or polyDADMAC, FLOPAM AN945 drastically accelerates floc growth, ensuring stable clarification even under varying wastewater compositions.
In the food and beverage industry, AN945 is used for effluents from starch processing, sugar mills, breweries, slaughterhouses, and dairy plants. These effluents typically contain organic solids and clay-like impurities that require strong flocculants to achieve adequate settling. FLOPAM AN945 enhances separation efficiency and reduces chemical consumption compared to traditional inorganic coagulants.
